My external filter has been switched off for roughly 24 hours with water in there, is the bacteria alive?

Yesterday, i switched off my filter after taking my old fish back to the shop and I just turned it back on. My external filter still had water in there. It has been roughly, 20 - 24 hours. Is the friendly bacteria still alive. Or will I have to start again and cycle my whole tank again?
