Nancy Drew: Trail of the Twister glitch. Game shuts when entering car?

Recently, every time I try to enter a car to drive anywhere, the game will exit out. It won't freeze or anything, so I never have to restart the computer, but the game will be gone. And this only started happening recently, and by that, I mean today. No changes that I can think have been made to my computer, except I installed a new computer game (American McGee's Alice if that helps). My game used to occasionally minimize but rarely exit competely, and when it did it'd never do it at the same part. I plenty of memory on computer and this is the first time it's happened. Does anyone know what is going and how I can fix it?
