Do guys really not know when their hitting on girls?

There some guys who are just always flirting. Sometimes that guy is a friend, and I dont mean hes being friendly, he IS flirting. And next thing you know, he acts as if he doesnt like when he gets a gf. So what he was playing around before or he really didnt know.
