How do I deal with my friends death?

I found out a few days ago that one of my friends was skateboarding, got hit by a car, and died instantly. I didn't find out right away because I moved last summer. I can't grasp that he's gone I feel like it's just a living nightmare. The lady that hit him wasn't even charged. He was 14!!!!! I talked to my dad and some of my friends. But they didn't know him, and they helped but not that much. I want to go to the funeral, but I live sop far away and I'm not even going near my old town for 1 year. I want to help my friends who still lived near him. Is there anny other way other than facebook? I just wish I could have talked to him one last time.
