Would you be annoyed?

Would it bother you if a friend only talked to you if you contacted them first, and never initiated? Half the time they don't even reply to your emails, and that's pretty much the only way you've kept in touch. When they do reply they are friendly, but they only answer your questions regarding what's new with them, but they don't ask any questions about you in return? They don't acknowledge your birthday even though theirs was a short time before and you wished them a happy birthday.
