I wanna have a nintendog puppy, but do i have to have a rose?

I have a nintendogs game and i want my dogs to have a puppy. one of my dogs is friendly and the other one rarely gets into fights. but do they always have to have rose?? I dont have a rose in my game. I searched for a whole hour and i didnt find it. i know what to do, but do i have to have a rose to have a nintendog puppy?
